New Zealand's CHUGANAUT Win International BATTLE OF THE BANDS Competition
November 29, 2004Stuff.co.nz is reporting that Waikato-based alternative rock/heavy metal four-piece CHUGANAUT claimed a victory for New Zealand music at the international Battle of the Bands final.
In front of a 400-strong crowd at downtown Auckland venue The Studio on Saturday (Nov. 27),the band's three-song set — the last of the night — secured them victory on over rivals JAGGEDY ANN (United States),LUMP (Australia) and AUDIOTRAFFIC (Hong Kong).
"We're ecstatic — I'm still grinning," the band's vocalist Stuart "Solid Stu" Rice told Stuff.co.nz.
"I'd like to say it's opened a few doors for us. I feel we're worthy of some attention now."
